Berkshire PK-12 School
Berkshire Local School District
Burton, Ohio
BSHM Architects teamed with Holabird & Root on the design and construction of this new Elementary/Middle/High School for 1,200 students, grades PK-12, plus Career Tech.
The New PK-12 is being built on Kent State University’s Geauga Campus, so students can remain in their existing building until construction is complete. The new school will integrate Student Centered Learning (HPLE) design concepts. Additionally, the school project is LEED Silver Certified.
Topography played a key role in building on site design. The change in elevation provided opportunity for defining building points of entry. Lower level site includes bus drop-off, main assembly entrance, school entrance, parent drop-off and parking on main level.
